>>Go ahead, continue to fool yourself. <<

Dave -

Thanks, I will. Meanwhile, a few things will happen.

The problems you describe with non-Universal apps will become things of the past. Vista will be delayed, then prove to be inferior to whatever version of OS X is current when it is finally released. (Honestly, do you really think Vista will be more secure?) Apple will continue to grow earnings and gradually increase market share.

Sure, most people will continue to use Windows, and there will doubtless be various applications that are not supported in OS X, or not supported fully.

And Apple will continue to grow earnings and market share.

- Allen

But you're running Windows on a Mac!?! PC users are buying Macs just to run Windows.

What system(s) does your new MBP replace, a PC, Mac or both? And if the MBP didn't exist (and Macs didn't run Windows), what would have been your replacement systems(s)?

You're right that OS X isn't helped immediately, but Apple is helped by hardware sales. Down the road, if Apple gains market share, that's a larger pool of computers that are capable of running OS X as well as other Apple programs. The total number of OS X users may increase more than if such a crossover product didn't exist, especially if Apple can get some of your objections resolved.

Give it time.

when a web page doesn't work in Safari, I tend to switch to XP and run Explorer.

Firefox is better than either of these proprietary browsers. OK Safari is semi proprietary but it's based on a not so great browser if you ask me.

And Quicken works with my bank under WIndows. It doesn't on the OS X version. Yes, I hate that I have to do this. But it works better somehow. Blech!

Yeah banks are notoriously Windows code centric. They will be the last.

I don't know, somehow that doesn't make me feel very safe.
