A pretty sensible viewpoint, Hawk. I certainly hope your sister and brother-in-law are pulled out of harm's way by our government quickly.

They were on a "roll" there for awhile with regard to Syria, given the Hariri assassination, but then they shrugged their shoulders and failed to press Lebanon on the Hizbullah issue and the threat it posed to dragging Lebanon into a war with Israel.

Yes. We have several cities in the US with their own foreign policy- -San Francisco, say. But when it counts, it is understood by all that they are blowing hot air and there is one gov't that speaks for this country. Lebanon made the mistake of letting there be two and the second one got them into a war.

I don't like the fact that people are dying in Lebanon. Hell, my sister is over there with her husband trying to get out. But there is plenty of blame to be shared on this issue of Hizbullah and it's one further example of how the spineless UN Secretary-General is more interested in talking than acting.

You forgot "corrupt".

I hope neither my sister, or any other evacuating foreigners are caught in the exchange of hostile fire in Lebanon.
Let us all pray so.

Hell, in fact, the Lebanese government says their army might actually HELP Hizbullah fight the Israelis.

Now THAT would be a serious mistake.
