none of this matters though. The bloom is off the rose for vista. It is four years too late, with most of the key functionality that was supposed to be so groundbreaking, basically axed. Now the only thing vista might get you, maybe is better security. But there is no wow factor.

It reminds me a little of other times when big companies have lost their luster. IBM in 92, and the US automakers in the 70s. Before they were king, after, just another company. Thats msft.

>>Not that it matters to you (it might be to others), but Vista beta 2 is secure out of the box. I was completely comfortable with the level of security after installation as I am for OS X. And all the networking stuff configured itself automatically. And this on an Apple machine which was claimed to be not compatible when I ran the Microsoft Vista compatibility test. I was quite impressed actually. This is difficult to do when it comes to Windows and me.<<

Dave -

Yes, it matters to me. If Vista is really more secure, then that will be a big advance.

Do you mean to say that you have Vista running on a MacBook Pro? If so, using BootCamp or in Parallels? How did you get past the EFI problem? I didn't realize that had been solved.

I've got the Vista beta disks, and would be interested in trying it out on my machine.
