When you get back to playing regional power politics, a saddam run iraq seems alot better than this in stopping the growing iranian/shiaa/syrian/hizbolla danger. Hey one can make the case in retrospect that we should have given him more help in the iran/iraq war and that we should have struck a deal with him when he took kuwait. (g) The right is wedded to neocon rhetoric which really is relic of the cold war evil empire stuff, and the left is only interested in short term casualty figures and america and israel as the evil twins.
