Mike...what I hear everybody saying is that Syria would like some way out of this mess and would love to talk to us about it, but Bush just tells them to go ^%&** themselves.

Bush likes IGNORE diplomacy. Just ignore them and they will do what we want them to. It hasn't worked with China, Russia, N. Korea, Venezuela, or certainly anyone in the Middle East, but he's stickin' with it.

I think you're probably right about the various options with Syria AND about the ultimate result in Iraq.

Unfortunately the best resolution in both cases would seem to necessitate some finely tuned diplomacy and if you've heard how diplomatic Bush is in his private discussions (as displayed in the conversations picked up at the G-8) then you know that Bush is not too good at things that require delicacy and contemplation.
