If Windows is as good as you say it is, why should you need to run parallels on a Windows machine?

You don't need to, but there are advantages to running in a virtual environment. Some of them were enumerated here a few posts ago and made claims about how benefitial this is for a windows installation because you could back it up and restore it easily. Well that is a good feature but that feature is not specific to OSX. If one wants that feature then one can get it in OSX or in Windows.

Parallels Worksation and VMWare existed long before their Mac counterparts. Why is that do you think? There must be some demand for virtualization.
