We were introduced to "MAX" in Portland Ore last weekend. The fares are clearly published at each stop, but riders are on the honor system. We rode it twice and there are no conductors or ticket takers. We asked ourselves why we should pay (the fare was very reasonable...$1.65 each way to our destination)if no one checks to make sure you do?

I shouldn't have said few use it, it is widely used, but I wouldn't sit in those seats...
