Dan,

You're ignoring the fact that the MBP and MB represented a minimum of 4-5x performance gain for the mac notebook market. There was a huge contingent of powermac and ibook owners clamoring for a performance gain. They got it finally so yes there were many who bought it as soon as it was available. The rest waited a few months. These together explain the large Q2 notebook numbers. They'd have bought something better a year prior but it wasn't available or didn't provide enough performance gain. I went from 800MHz G4 to a dual 2GHz MBP. This is an enormous performance boost. I couldn't ever justify a higher speed G4 because of the G4 FSB issue.
