There is one more very important factor. Volunteers are hard to come by. If she has enthusiasm it can be channeled. Don't give her the opportunity to offend other volunteers. If you have one more person to spread the load over, it makes the load lighter for everyone else. I was on a charitable board for a couple three year terms. Once I figured out that the woman who dominated the board always disagreed with me and was a spendthrift with the group's money, I declined to run for me expiring seat on the board.
