The rightwing is very unpopular now. GOP moderates are popular but Bush and Cheney, for instance, are popular with no more than a third of the country. The GOP congress, represented by its leader Tom Delay is popular with less than a quarter of the country.

In 2008, any candidate who sided with Bush-Cheney and Delay on more than a few issues is going to go down in flames. No one wants this rightwing neocon ideology dominating our govermnment anymore, it's just way too corrupt, incompetent and radical.

If you look at the current numbers, Bush only has above 50% approvals in about five states; Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Alabama and Oklahoma I think. In Texas he has a 49% disapproval rating. In every other state he is under water and in blue states he has approvals in the 20's. In ohio he's at 33%. That state is the bellweather. No GOP candidate has ever won without Ohio, and right now Bushies are very-very unpopular there. McCain though may be able to get around that.

McCain can beat Guliani. Hillary will not be the dem nominee. It will bs someone stronger. Likely Warner or Kerry. And Kerry will be completely vindicated by then. Completely. "I told you so" can be his slogan.
