Too much fast food, imo, and too little exercise. I don't know if you read the article that compared European women and American women. European women work approximately 10 hours less at the office but 10 more at home- and they spend significantly more time cooking, and their families eat out less. That probably helps to account for some of the differential between our country and Euro countries wrt obesity. When mom cooks she doesn't use as much fat and salt as a restaurant (and especially not as much as in fast food), and mom usually serves smaller portions (I say mom becuase the research shows women still do most of the housework). IMO we need a lot more healthy home cooking in this country, and far less grazing at Chez Mac.
