Steve, The dems are antiwar, against everything Bush has done in Iraq. For the dems to come out with the same rhetoric against Israel, would be disastrous. The dems would lose the Jewish vote.

I doubt it. IMO, Jews couldn't have asked for a stronger supporter of Israel than George W. Bush, yet the majority of them still voted for Kerry in 2004.

A simpler explanation would be the following. If you're a Democrat, pick one:

a) Israel has the right to defend itself. Hezbollah should disarm.

b) Israel is overreacting and acting like a bunch of bloodthirsy neocons. They're just creating more terrorism.

c) It's all Bush's fault.
