I speculate that all the recent publicity about naked shorting might have made some people with FTDs very nervous, while in the past they were getting away with it with impunity.

Just a thought.

OK, I see...

so Schwab is basically starting to sound like a commercial bank instead of a brokerage... raising funds (stock) at a low interest rate to lend them out at a higher rate. [Or I guess in this case, raising the stock at a HIGH rate and lending them out at an even HIGHER rate...]

I hope FHM is right (actually I suspect he is) that this is just to facilitate the naked shorts need to cover. I dont like this, though, whatever the denouement...

Still havent heard anything like this from Ameritrade. Anyone with AMTD get any offers like this yet?
