What if your neighbor has rented his downstairs apartment to mobsters who do drug deals in the front yard, and are shooting at you because they want to take over your property? Last week, they shot your dog and have promised to come after you. The neighbor too is terrorized by them, so he can't evict them, and the police won't come to your bad neighborhood. If you have the strength, you will gather your friends and fight it out with these thugs before they kill any more of you and yours. If your neighbors house gets damaged, that's too bad. You are not going to volunteer to die to keep his lawn neat. Much better analogy. No, the problem with that analogy is it makes it sound like you are the majority and your mobsters the minority. You should add that 90% of the people in the neighborhood don't think that the mobsters are mobsters; rather, they think them freedom fighters that are trying to get rid of you, and they support them because the 90% of the people in the neighborhood don't like you.....
