The US is still running roughshod over a 'democratic' Iraq while Israel is destroying a 'democratic' Lebanon.

Neither rightwing government has any intention of democratic anything. They both want the world to run THEIR way. In that, they are themselves totalitarian but with a modern facade and modern limitations.

People who have democratic goals do not run to embrace terrorism as their weapon of choice.

In many cases it is the weapon of last resort, not of choice. You may have noticed that terrorism is how the weak fight the strong.
