Since you have to plug-in the iPod-like device to charge it anyway, a wireless capability doesn't have as much utility as the article implies.

The utility of wireless is sure to grow once you get used to it. Some TV's and VCR's used to have wired remote controls, and remember the days of laptops before Wi-Fi? You won't notice it at first, but if it works seamlessly (something Apple is better at doing than Microsoft), then when it doesn't work is when you'll miss it and notice it!

Since I watched the Avengers today (the one with Mrs. Peel) I was about to quip "Broadcast Power!" and then digress about solar power and get nostalgic about power hungry calculators and the revolution that brought about solar powered calculators, but now I'm digressing.

But then I realized that they could have some sort of inductive charger - not quite charging at a distance, but you would just have to put the device down on a platform, any which way.

...

On second thought, how about that broadcast power?

...

Actually, knowing MSFT, they'd probably come up with some scheme to power it with vinegar and baking soda.
