Yes. Similar to the MAD option we had with the Russians in the Cold War Israel was prepared to launch this last ditch retaliation. In the novel they were threatened with a massive assault from most Moslem countries, many NATO countries, and Russia. The thing that struck me was how easily a coupe in Russia enabled the new Russian leader to organize and launch this invasion of Israel. It gives me renewed perspectives on Russian cooperation with Iran.

Excerpt from reviews at Amazon.com:

A great, action-packed read with some frightening implications. It demonstrates just how unstable the world political situation really is. Woven into the story is a look at the future based on a keen assessment of current geopolitical stresses coupled with writings from ancient Hebrew prophets. It also provides insights on the decision-making process of our leaders in Washington, D.C. Written before the Iraq invasion, Rosenberg himself seems to have an uncanny knack of predicting the future.
