CLinton contained North Korea and Iran quite well, despite some late inning cheating by North Korea. It's important not to blow the cheating out of proportion. What's much worse than the cheating was Bush refusing to engage with NK whatsoever, thereby compelling NK to kick out all inspectors and accelerate his nuclear bomb program. Bushies don't seem to be able to grasp any notion between black and white. With NK there is no black or white. Yet North Korea is really just goofy (in a menacing way). They can never be trusted on one hand and may sell nukes to terrorists if isolated enough, yet their threats are also often bogus, like that silly ICBM they threatened to launch which turned out to be a big fat dud, probably a glorified firecracker incapable of hitting anything. So what do we do with a regime like this? Just contain them and keep China on our side about it. Why? Because only China has clout with them, and we have no military option without starting something which could cost about 200,000 human lives including a lot of US troops.
