Anyone care to weigh in? Does anyone on this forum give a sh*t that innocent civilians in Lebanon are in a humanitarian crisis resulting from actions that Canada has condoned? Can you answer this directly -- Ichy, AK2004, Lorne?

I will be the first to say that innocent Israelis don't deserve to be bombed. But no one is appeasing Hezbollah in their aggression. Canada is not supporting them and neither am I. Furthermore the threat of Hezbollah is far less than deserves the type of force being used by Israel.

I think the government of Canada, like the government in the US is in a tough position. Hezbollah are terrorists, when Israel reacted and went to war, Israel was being attacked on two sides, Hamas was attacking too. Hezbollah admits to have thousands of missiles 11 or 12 depending on what you read. The problem with terrorists is that unless you kill or imprison them, they will keep killing. When our government made it's comment, Israel had been attacked, and was attacking it's attackers. Canada didn't know how far this was going, but unless there is a way to get the soldiers returned and the murderers of the 8 others put into Israeli hands there is no other option.

A nation cannot publicly condemn another nation for reacting when it is attacked. I do not know what Mr Harper has been doing since he returned to Canada, or even if he has asked the Israelis to be a tad more gentle. If you are asking me personally what I think, I have tried to get you to tell me what other option there was, I have tried myself to figure out another option. The missiles have to be stopped. Hezbollah has to give up the idea that Israel can be, or will be destroyed. Yes this may make more terrorists, yes it is terrible to see people killed, but I say to you again, Israel tries to hit military targets, Hezbollah aims at women, children and other civilians targets. Hezbollah has to be stopped. For two years Lebanon has known that today was coming. For two years Lebanon has said it was too weak to stop Hezbollah. For two years the UN has wasted it's mandate. Now hezbollah will be stopped. I don't see another way.
BTW as I write this, the missiles from Hezbollah are still falling. Civilians are still their target. When Israel wasn't fighting back there were missiles every day. maybe they will stop for a while if enough Lebanese die. What an awful idea.
