THE MORAL DIFFERENCE
If you are unable to distinguish a moral difference between the two images below, then you have something obscuring your vision. Ideology perhaps? (hat tip: sieself) From the RCP Blog:

Israel has engaged in half measures. As I said a comprehensive approach is needed. What good is removing soldiers from occupied lands, while families remain imprisoned and the economy is in tatters?

The US funds Israel, one of the richest countries in the world, while the Palestinians have nothing. For peace to occur there needs to be a leveling of opportunity. Then things will have a chance to heal.

As you say, the same old pattern of half measures followed by protest followed by rockets followed by bombs has been going on in the ME since 1948. Doing the same thing over and over with the same result. Yes it's insane.

It will keep on going that way until a comprehensive solution is reached. That won't happen, so don't worry. You can continue to cheer on the Israeli attacks using F-16s and precision munitions against the rag tag "terrorists". It's about as much fun as watching a teenage bully beat up a 10 year old.

Leadership is a vanishing quality in politics today.

Bushies need to talk about Iraq and Afghanistan. Lebanon is Israel's problem, not the US's. Israel is going to do what they have done several times, clean out southern Lebanon, create a buffrer zone then gradually pull back.

Our much bigger problems are where our troops are stuck in a huge quagmire in Iraq, and losing ground in Afghanistan. Both are dtiorating rapidly and of grave concern, especially Iraq, which is a much bigger deal than anything in Lebanon because it threatens to leave the US greatly weakened and a new Iran-Iraq alliance run by US-hating Islamic fundamentalists.
