It's important to say it, because this is a free country, and there is nothing wrong with saying it. If you think aborted babies lives are squandered, for example, you have every right to use that, no matter how much it "hurts" women who may have had abortions. It's not per se cruel- it might strike some people as cruel, but really you would just be expressing your reverence for life. Same with poor dead soldiers. Those of us who think their precious lives should not have been spent in Iraq have every right to say so, and it's important we do say so, because it's a valid point to make, and it's an important point to make if we want the killing to stop. You may not want the killing to stop- but it's easy to argue that not wanting it to stop is very dismissive of their lives.

I'm sure you think my concept of loyal opposition is twisted. I don't imagine you can conceptualize a true loyal opposition based on your opinion of what sort of free speech you deem appropriate in political debate.
