fahrenheit to math junkie: I noticed you requested that Kirk not address you by your real name. Are you making this request in fear that Brinker may cancel your subscription to MARKETIMER because you have said things that are critical of him? I know you can't deny that you have expressed this concern in the past.

Math's not the only one who's made that kind of request if you haven't noticed. Some of us are honorable enough to comply with such a request and leave it alone. What's your problem?

"No I was claiming that it is false and misleading advertising and as such it may even constitute FRAUD."

Have you examined Hulbert's back issues to determine if there's something to back up the claim?

"I noticed you requested that Kirk not address you by your real name. Are you making this request in fear that Brinker may cancel your subscription to MARKETIMER because you have said things that are critical of him?"

I'll answer that question if you'll answer this one: When you adopted my old screen name from 101, were you hoping people would think you were me?

For the record, the only reason I used Junkie's real FIRST name, was because he has been calling others "Kirk" on numerous occasions. Why should he expect me to not refer to him with his real name when he assigns my name to others who are not me? Also, even if it was me posting with an alias, why should he ask me to honor his wish to be anonymous when he was obviously running around trying to uncover who some people were, perhaps someone defending me on other boards?

"No I was claiming that it is false and misleading advertising and as such it may even constitute FRAUD. I find it interesting that the statement was changed shortly after that claim was posted at 101."

The current issue of Marketimer makes a VERY SPECIFIC claim.

It says on page 3 "Marketimer currently is ranked number one for long-term stock market timing by the two major rating services, HFD and Timer Digest."

He can't change that but I bet it will be changed in the next issue.

I also think it refers to a study Hulbert did that only looked at timing and didn't look at how well the timer used their timing to generate returns. I believe you need to search the net to find the article because I don't recall reading it in Hulbert's newsletter... but I could have missed it or forgotten since I read many.

I posted a link on Honey's forum that showed a study where the top market timer under performed the S&P500... 1988 to 1998... and Brinker was rated #2. Being top rated was similar to winning the Special Olympics... It was something to be proud of, but the very best was just short of "average."
