Rarebird, RE: "The "strategy" itself inherently entails that Iraq, Lebanon and Syria never be allowed to rise again. Wouldn't it be wiser for Israel to use a proven strategy to get the peace it wants? Israel returned the Egyptian and Jordanian occupied lands and got peace and economic ties and more from both countries. Why not try this with the palestineans, the Lebanese and Syrians? War did not bring peace to northern Israel in the past and neither will this or the next war. Without a valid reason for fighting Israel, the hizbullah and others will lose support for any kind of military action. The opposite is also true. Reoccupying Lebanese territory and bombing lebanese and palestinean infrastructure will only generate more support for these groups.
