Erwin Chemerinsky, the lawyer, is a preeminent constitutional scholar. Extremely bright, and very, very left wing. But there is a huge difference between the legal skills required in being a first-rate scholar and those required of a trial attorney. I was surprised to see the Plames select EC as their attorney. I think it was a publicity stunt. They're going to have to hire someone with courtroom skills, someone who understands how facts and arguments are developed for presentation to a jury.
