So would I - but the forces shaping American politics and the forces shaping most political discussion on SI are polarizers, not uniters. The philosophy is to polarize as many people to your cause as possible, and away from your "enemies". It makes people feel good to piss and moan and bash in the name of a truly righteous crusade. Until more people stand up and say screw that BS, I want something better, that is what we will get. I always figured the fact that this thread exists and thrives to the exasperation of a handful of playground bashers we excluded, is a small start.
