The conflict in the ME is not about haggling about land. It is about wiping Israel off the map.

You can express this with better rhetoric. "Wiping Israel off the map" does not necessarily require the death of any Israeli citizen, just as wiping Czechoslovakia off the map didn't kill any Czechs or Slovaks. Perhaps a better way of expressing it is that the conflict in the ME is about the separation of church and state.
