(ABX.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) (ABX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it plans to make a $1.29-billion offer to acquire NovaGold Resources Inc. (NG.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) (NG.A: Quote, Profile, Research) as it seeks to consolidate its interest in projects in Alaska and British Columbia. Barrick said it plans to offer $14.50 in cash for each NovaGold share, representing a 24-percent premium over last Friday's closing price of NovaGold's shares on the AMEX, the company said. One of my long term holds as well... we sniffed that buyout out ages ago, that was our #1 pick for ABX's next purchase. dAK
