BS. If that were the case, free and democratic ME Arab states should have better relations with Israel. Just the opposite is the case. Look at the recent elections there. What do you see? I see diplomatic relations with Israel. I see Egypt and Jordan actually speaking with Israeli officials and not just spouting rhetoric via their media outlets or launching raids across the borders. But I also see growing internal dissent within their societies from religious fundamentalists movements like the Moslem Brotherhood. In the case of Egypt this has been a long-standing problem. Their population growth is clearly out-pacing their economic growth and this is creating a greater degree of internal dissent. Futhermore, Egypt's society is rife with corruption and graft. And this increases the appeal of puritanical religious fanatics (although IMO, they represent just a different form of corruption and their concept of a "rule of law" serves to promote THEIR power and wealth). As has been stated, there are some 250 million Arabs in the countries surrounding Israel, and only some 5 million Jews.. So what's the REAL problem here?? Is it that the these Arabs believe Israel is bent upon some form of expansionist imperialism?? Or is it the fact that a small nation like Israel is able to defeat (and embarrass) vastly greater numbers of Arabs over and over again in defense of their right to exist as a state?? Hawk
