Kerry would have defused tensions in the Middle East by re-engaging the US in hardnosed diplomacy in the Middle East. Clinton almost succeeded in making peace, remember? Through hard work. Kerry would have continued Clinton's work. As a result Hamas would not be in charge of Palestine, the radicals would not be so powerful in Iran, Hezbollah would be less dangerous and Iraq would be a lot closer to a final solution. North Korea would also be re-engaged. Basically, Bush's entire foreign policy attitude turned out to be wrong and bad for America. Kerry would have reversed the damage there by using real diplomacy, smarts, engagement, carrot and stick deals and not just actinbg like an arrogant bully in the region. Kerry would also be moving to get us off oil altogether which would gradually lessen our concern over Middle Eastern affairs. Israel is doing that, not the US. Bushies tend to confuse Israel and the US. But the US does not want to be Israel. I'm not sure anyone can "stop Hezbollah". The only thing the Israelis are trying to do it to remove most of their weaponry and frontline fighters. But even if they killed the Hezbollah leadership, others would replace them. Bush certainly isn't "stopping Hezbollah". Although we agree that since Hezbollah started this, they need to be severely punished.
