In response, the US sent in army troops. Not really that different than what Israel is doing.

The issue is not whether Israel can strike back in their endless tit-for-tat way, but whether they destroy a whole country and then send in a proxy occupation army to keep the population displaced. The ethics of the situation are really quite clear.

This is not a war to protect Israel. This is a war to keep the population of Israel surrounded by enemies so that the neocons can remain influential.

Yes or no. Answer the question.

Laz, it appears that the captured Israelis were actually on the Lebanon side of the border. Do you think all of your rhetoric on the necessity to play cowboys and Villas still applies when the incursion was the other way?

The original story, as most media tell it, goes something like this: Hezbollah attacked an Israeli border patrol station, killing six and taking two soldiers hostage. The incident happened on the Lebanese/Israel border in Israeli territory. The alternate version, as explained by several news outlets, tells a bit of a different tale: These sources contend that Israel sent a commando force into southern Lebanon and was subsequently attacked by Hezbollah near the village of Aitaa al-Chaab, well inside Lebanon's southern territory. It was at this point that an Israel tank was struck by Hezbollah fighters, which resulted in the capture of two Israeli soldiers and the death of six.
