Carter was the best president in some ways. He was the best on clean energy and fuel efficiency. His massive solar and efficiency programs were 100% dismantled by Reagan when he came into power. If we still had those we would be 100% off all Arab and other noxious regimes' oil by now. So we wouldn't need to fight wars for oil or destroy pristine wilderness areas.

Carter was also not to blame for the oil embargo nor the Iranian revolution. And if his rescue mission had succeeded, he would have been re-elected. He was a victim of bad luck or sabotage with that rescue mission.

Carter was also excellent in putting away the racist ways of the South and ushering in a new hopeful New South attitude which resurrected the South's economy and sense of respect. After Carter, rightwing Republicans came in and race-baited, bringing back to life the ghoul of racism which has haunted the South for so long.

Carter is the only truly christian president in our lifetimes. Bush and Reagan were poseurs when it came top religious. Bush is faking it just to pander for extra votes on the wacko far right. Carter was a truly devout Christian and absolutely moral man. That's why he's also the best former president we've ever had.

Also, if Reagan was so tough on Iranian extremists why did he never invade them? And why did he sell sophisticated weapons to the Iranians? Carter didn't do any of that.

Carter gets a bad rap because of the hyper inflation and high gas prices, but those were a result of the 6 Day War and the aftermath of huge deficit spending during the Vietnam years. And the Shah Of Iran had been asking for it from his people for a long time before Carter came into power.

Not in my book. Carter was the worst President in US history.

Of course, you are entitled to your opinion but at this stage few would agree with you except for Bush supporters.

Carter would be an excellent prez to have right now. He could placate the evangelicals with his real religious devotion, but also start mending our energy problems by going clean and green, and using real compassionate diplomacy to gradually end the violence in the middle east. Carter is a true christian. I don't think anyone in the White House even goes to church except for photo ops. I know Rove and Cheney don't. And when was the last time you saw Bush praying? He doesn't strike me as the least bit spiritual.

Oh yeah, Condi probably goes to church. Or shopping for shoes.
