Here's what Heinz thinks:



it appears highly likely to me that they will be forced to up this offer. the major indication for that is that NG's management already appears to have had discussions with ABX about an offer back when the stock was trading in the 16 range - and obviously, an agreement on price didn't result back then.
it seems this out-of-the-blue offer is designed to use the opportunity to get it on the cheap on account of the recent correction in the gold sector. the thing is, other suitors may emerge too. so i'd simply play this one slow, so to speak. after all, ABX has given you a free put option with its offer price.
