`You needn't say "exactually,"' the Queen remarked: `I can believe it without that. Now I'll give YOU something to believe. I'm just one hundred and one, five months and a day.'

`I can't believe THAT!' said Alice.

`Can't you?' the Queen said in a pitying tone. `Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.'

Alice laughed. `There's not use trying,' she said: `one CAN'T believe impossible things.'

`I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. `When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

do you like what you see?"

No I don't tejek, but I also know that there are realities in democracies and no matter how much you believe certain things should happen, they won't automatically come about.

That statement usually precedes the admonishment that someone is a bit too idealistic. Well, you know, the Framers were idealistic. After all, in their time, only white men were free and only white men had any real power but they still spoke about ALL the people. I think we need some idealism now and need to stop this kneejerk pragmaticism that is taking us done a bad road. I don't like Lieberman not just because of his stand on Iraq........that man looks like he's sold his soul one to many times.

I know that just because I believe something, it doesn't mean that others are going to go along with me.

If I want to convince someone of something I have to be able to see things from THEIR perspective and understand what arguments that THEY might find persuasive.

You can't do that all in ONE fell swoop...you have to establish a niche and work from there.

There are times when people have to make a stand. I think this is one of those times.
