how many GSM networks have been (& are going to be) replaced with WCDMA with those prior GSM subs now via WCDMA becoming Qualcomm customers via royalties and chipsets

They talk repeatedly about the strength in WCDMA. TI is more bullish on WCDMA right now than Qualcomm. They dont need to talk explicitly about GSM moving to WCDMA because the trend is widely known and their share in WCDMA is pretty close to their share of wireless overall.

OTOH, the move of CDMA operators to GSM represents a clear revenue opportunity for TI. They probably dont have the best insight into the trend though, their end customers are the handset manufacturers and not the operators. Ericsson, Nokia and the operators themselves will have a better feel for the trend....not that it really matters since you are unlikely to believe them anyway.
