So many reasons not to run for public office, LOL, with that one high on the list. Fundraising would come in a close second.

I don't think it's proper use of the word "pork" to use it to refer to all government spending, is it?

It's only pork if the project is unnecessary. If the project is something that needs to be done and the only thing at issue is in which state to put it, then it's not pork. I have no clue whether Craney Island is pork or not. Probably not.

It must be easy for politicians to rationalize unnecessary stuff as necessary when it benefits their districts. You can perhaps forgive some of that. But then there's the pork that isn't even rationalized...
