Rice is not respected. She's a puppet of Bush's. She never says anything she'd not been force-fed. Her main attribute is 100% loyalty, often to dishonest causes and positions. She is on record as lying on many occasions. She has also had no foreign policy victories, not a single one.

The rightwing likes Rice because she's a token black woman. There are so few of them in the GOPP it's amazing to even find one, so they promjoted her to a top spot without her being qualified. 9-11 resulted.

If Rice now helps bring peace to Lebanon, great, but she's already too little too late. The damage is immense, and it's questionable whether there can be any sustainable cease fire. This all goes back to Bush's bungling avoidance of diplomacy in the Middle East. Remember Bush's "Roadmap For Peace"? A total failure. And Iraq is an even bigger failure. It fact it's our country's worst failure since Vietnam.

We have periodically had single candidates for President. None have gotten very far yet. I do not believe that Condi will be the one to overcome that particular problem at this juncture. Guliani / Rice is more likely. Rudi will have a difficult time getting the nomination from any candidate who is pro life.

How about McKinney / Jefferson for the Democrats?

I've always been a fan of Rice going back to her tenure with Bush41 and would vote for her, but I doubt she will run barring the possibility she might become VP should Cheney step down for health reasons.
