Seen in this manner, I think we have succeeded in capturing that segment here at VFC.

I think our segment is a fine one, trimmed a bit too much for my taste, but in the neighborhood. Not so sure its label is a fine one. It is both controversial and without clear meaning. I don't think either is constructive. And after all, if us "centrists" have any guiding principles, one should be to be constructive. <g>

Looking at the center as a segment is exactly what I had in mind, a segment that is absolutely essential for any party to gain the 60% plateau they need to make a long-term impact with governance.

Everyone seems to think I am dreamy about this but imagine if a party could put together that set of segments, deliver domestic and foreign policy results that keeps that support and cements a new political paradigm for decades. If I were in electoral politics, that is what I would shoot for instead of these ephemeral 51% "wins" and out again in a few years nonsense.
