Use overwhelming force against local radicals to make hostilities impossible, that's the theory. It worked in Bosnia. But despite their talent at molesting and slaughtering civilians, all sides in the ex-Yugo conflicts were wimps when faced with any kind of real firepower.

I suspect that may not work as well in Lebanon. But absent someone trying we get the current players and their game.
