The average heartland voter is gonna hit his average heartland pol right over the head with his gas bill. And his food bills.

And his pol will protect him with subsidies and protections financed through deficit spending ad infinitum. That's how politics works.

And the cure for this is . . . . let me get this straight . . . . higher gasoline taxes?

As I think I qualify as "the average heartland voter" I would like to respond:
(I live in SW Missouri, middle America, the heartland) I ain't 'hitting' no pol over the head, nor my family
or neighbors...IMO

My 1000 sq. ft. house is 100% electric, on well water (electric pump) so water is 'free' and the most my
electric bill was during the past 'winter' for heating, $108 mo. No gas bill, no water bill and oh no sewer bill..
I'm on septic system..I have central AC and it's been hotter than hell lately and my last electric bill was $68...

The only 'gas' I buy is for my car, 1 tank a month..So, the price of gasoline for me......no problemo!!

FWIW

mike

If oil stays above $70 a barrel, the United States and Canada will soon have the largest recoverable oil reserves on Earth (and enough to last a very long time). That is if you don't mind all the CO2.
