Another Space Subject has been around for a while. Competing or cooperating is always the question. It has never been wildly popular, but there appear to be limited forward thinking people.

Nova has been running a program about subatomic particles. The string theory apparently explains things about the universe that the theory of relativity does not. I don't know what strings are, much less understand them, but according to the experts they are mathematically elegant and beautiful. They're looking for evidence of them. Gravitons and sparticles are two of the possibilities.
