What does the fact that Bush and Harriet Miers each think that the other is "one of the smartest people I've ever met" tell you? If anyone with a brain auditioned for a Bush appointment, unless they had the sense to pitch themselves at his level, they were probably completely unintelligible to him. He probably spends his time peering into their eyes and trying to read their "souls"!
