Wow, never heard of that actually happening before. Either that reactor is generating an incredible amount of waste heat or that river is very small. Not likely they would build a reactor on a small-medium sized river. They are built on things like the Mississipi or Ohio Rivers, or on a large lake or the ocean.

Any pebble bed gurus out there.

Am I mistaken that the basic configuration of a pebble bed reactor is that the core is placed between a compressor and a turbine with recirculating gas - hence no phase change? Just like a jet engine.

If this is the case, then there is no large cooling requirement, ne c'est pas???
