There are a lot of incompetents in the Bush administration.
What makes Rice different is that she is the only remaining member (besides Junior himself) who is not on Cheney's team. Look at the names in that article, it's a who's who of neocon activism. Add Olmert and Netanyahu to the list. This is all about the pending attack on Iran.

It should be clear to all now that this push is coordinated with the Lebanon invasion. Condi seemed to be the one couseling restraint against Iran. The neocons in Washington got the neocons in Israel to create a situation that cannot be ignored, and at the same time a situation where Condi really can't help but fail. They get Condi gone.

With Rice gone there is nobody to counsel Junior except Cheney's handpicked aparachiks. Even if the democrats take back congress, the neocons will be poised to bring Iran into their WW3 plans faster than any congressional commitee can act to prevent them, and with half the democrats worrying about whether Al-Maliki is mean mouthing Israel instead of whether a war with Iran (and perhaps all muslims) is imminent.
