I believe the article is flaky - nevertheless the headline hits the current state of mind - it fits righr in.

The author claims that reduced cycletime/leadtime will make things "worse":
It seems to me that lead times and inventory levels have continued to get shorter and shorter, leading me to think that nobody has as good an idea about what the next quarter will look like, let alone the next year, as in prior cycles.

Shorter leadtimes do not impact visibility -
visibility is not a function of lead time but leadtime is a means on how to deal with visibility.
Shorter leadtimes reduce your forecasting horizon - you don't have to guess 9 months down the road but perhaps due to shorter leadtimes only 6 months down the road.
How could one put a negative spin on this?
