China wasn't on my list because we are not doing anything, like giving economic and military aid or extending military protection, to China to prop up or support its gov't. We do give military & economic aid to Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and have extended military protection to the Gulf Kingdoms. Therefore these could be described as client states of ours to an extent.

All we do is trade with China. Merely trading with China doesn't amount to "loving" Chinese government tyranny. IMO describing China as being "loved" by the US merely because we buy and sell to them amounts to attempting to blame the US for Chinese rights violations which is unwarranted.

Trading between nations is the normal international arrangement and doesn't amount to gov't to gov't support. Refusing to trade is unusual and is to some extent a hostile act. As the US-Chinese trade relationship has been liberalized over the past few decades, advocates of trade liberalization argued that trade would in time lead China to moderate its human rights policies. Personally I think the argument was/is dubious (which is why I personally won't buy anything with a made in China label) but I acknowledge that other people honestly think otherwise.

Furthermore, the US has been consistent in promoting Chinese human rights diplomatically - for whatever diplomacy is worth and I know its not much. And we do provide a haven for Chinese dissidents.
