re: The continual firing of rockets into Israel, which has been happening since Israel left Lebanon, is plenty of provocation.

Every day, every week, every year?

No one said that Hezbollah are saints but it takes two to tango, and the kidnapping of two soldiers does not justify in any way, shape or form the horrific destruction Israel has rained down upon Lebanon.

The soldiers were just the last straw.

Bull. The Israelis moved too quickly for this to be anything but a planned event.

More significantly, Hezbollah has been attacking Israel with rockets for years. And not military targets, civilians. No nation can or should tolerate that.

No nation can or should tolerate what Israel has done to Lebanon. And the US should not have stood by and said nothing while it happened.

How would you handle the situation if you were Israel?

Diplomatically. War is hell and should only be used as a last resort. Now that Israel has started this war its found itself in a big mess. Hezbollah is not Hamas. They are well trained militarily and have hurt Israel before. Potentially, Israel could get bogged down in S. Lebanon much like we got bogged down in Iraq.

I suspect this is the beginning of Israel's undoing.
