IMO Bush just wants to go and hide in Crawford. He has said, after all, that cleaning up the mess in Iraq is his successor's problem. Add that to his admitted favorite presidential activity - fishing in his stocked pond at Crawford - and we have a guy who's out to lunch until it's time to go to bed. He reminds me of the kid who wants to play King because he thinks it's all fun and kowtowing and parades. Once he finds out that it's actual work and responsibility, he goes away in a huff.
