Maybe, but if our "use of preemptive force" policy keeps going the way it's going then the "white kid" may be worried about more than some minority kid getting a spot in a good school. He may be worried about getting picked for a slot in the military. Or he may be worried about paying huge taxes to support the kind of pay that would help support an "all volunteer" army of soldiers so that he wouldn't have to serve.

That's when the chickens come home to roost and affirmative action, or gay marriage, or flag burning loses some of its luster in picking representatives. Now why those issues are currently, for many, the determinative issues in national elections when we've got young men and women being blown to bits and killing Iraqis in a war that isn't, and won't be, "won," is beyond my comprehension.
