Independent can mean a lot of things. You are confusing the normal definition of Independent in a political context for whatever else JCP means. This makes a reasoned person wonder if the confusion was his intent.

Yeah! I'm a left leaning independent. I don't always vote for the Dems - in 2000, I voted for Nader for President in CA, mainly because he was the ONLY candidate that recognized that America is run by corporations now. I've voted for Greens and Socialists as well but I mostly vote Democrat, and am registered as an indepedent. The only Republican I'd consider voting for is Ron Paul.
