The genetic factor is often overplayed. The environment is the key, IMO. Hemophilia, for example, is genetics but most other deviations have only a minor/moderate genetic component.

I agree with your edited post more so...I maintain the environ is the key. Genetic influence may be seen when one follows identical twins that live far apart, and preferably without knowing about each other. These are hard to find...
